Sneaks (April 18)

Even the demon I brought with me asked about halfway through the 90 minute movie why the shoes were talking so much, which is I guess the question that some exec in Hollywood should’ve asked before they made a movie with some of the hottest actors in the business right now (and some washed up C-list stars) and threw as little money as they could at some Microsoft 95 processor to spit out a pre-Toy Story level of uncanny valley animation. There are some cool things they did with the villain(s) of the movie and their arc, but for the most part this is a movie that generates more questions than it resolves: like why do the shoes walk like that? Why are the humans all drawn so badly? How did they get so many famous people to do a movie about shoes? Do the shoes have special powers? How come people aren’t more concerned about the magic villains? Can the shoes talk to the people? Why is everyone so nice at the end BECAUSE of social media? Anyway, fundamentally a movie in search of an audience.
